Review: I saw this movie and I liked them. Obviously this is not the same as black holes, which I think was a good film in itself. The Chronicles of Riddick is a big budget summer blockbuster movie and on that level it succeeds. Sure, it's silly in parts, but we do not discuss a project based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel. This action-packed science fiction. I think Riddick DID stay true to the character he played in Pitch Black. While Riddick in this movie was cruel, selfish opportunist, I think we will see later in the film that he has good qualities too. Riddick in this film is still a cruel, selfish and opportunistic (see full-size statue of Riddick shown in the last study), but we see some real aspects of his character as well. Scenes in this movie was great! I especially liked the surface of the chase scene in Cremetoria. And Thandie Newton was a really good thief! What pleased me most was that there were people of color in central key roles that were not stereotypes. The main character was not a fan of blue-eyed white man to save mankind, we have to feed Hollywood. And the female characters seemed to be at times more sense than the male characters. Thandie Newton character was much better understand court politics than men and ladies Judith's character not only stereotypical wise mysterious creature, it was politically savvy too.The only problem I had with the film was the lack of development of Linus Roche's character. I just do not think his actions at the end of the movie. But that trivial. All All in all it was a great way to spend an hour forty five on Saturday night! |
