Review: If this film had been given the wrong director it could have been incredibly cheesy. Being a reader of comics I know there are some things that work on the side comic, not the movie and let me say that; Costume is one of the things that probably would not work. Singer chose to go with the black leather outfit and I, for one, am very grateful for this choice. There are many things in this film that works, but unfortunately there are few things as well to prevent the movie from being truly great.Lets start with things that work. Acting wise the film is very good. This is above all due to some excellent casting. Hugh Jackman is simply perfect as Wolverine and brings out the duality of nature in a very satisfactory manner. Also scenes we see a glimpse of anger in the nature of work incredibly well. All that can be said about him is that he is too high, but it seems most people, including myself, have integrated; thickness of this fact. I also think it was a wise choice to make a relatively unknown actor who plays a part in the way we have no pre-preconceived notions about him. As for Professor X no other man than Patrick Stewart could / should play him. Stewart will simply Xavier both in presence, voice and appearance. An example of a perfect casting. Ian McKellen is brilliant as Magneto and manages to create a human villain instead of the usual clich? as villains we see in Hollywood production. Acting aside from the ones mentioned above are pretty good. Not great, but good. The only thing that looks and behaves like the character we know from the comics is Anna Paquin who plays Rogue. Character is nothing like cartoons and Paquin performance does not help character. When it comes to music and sound effects overall picture is a notch above average. The notes have a very grand, even epic, feeling and this fits the movie very well. The situation is not as memorable score from Batman (1989), but it is very satisfying. As for the overall sound effects as they are both very fitting to believe that add to the overall credibility image that is significant. The audio Wolverine claws make when they come out exactly as I imagined it. Very well done. Effects are generally very well made. Not as good as Spider-Man, but still very good. Much care has been taken to make the effect seem to believe as possible and where I stand they work. The only sign of power I do not quite believe in toads. Ray Park is a great athlete, but many of his stunts look so obvious wire work. This is quite a general complaint I have as some of the action looks rehearsed. However, there are some interesting action scenes and overall function acceptable. The story is pretty well written, and the menu is both witty and sharp. Especially a lot of dialogue between Wolverine and Cyclops (James Marsden) is a very entertaining and true to the comics. Where can I find the story lacking in the climax, which I am afraid to say is a bit silly. Magnetos plan for world domination is actually pretty silly when you think about it, and that's a shame because much of the report is very well done. In general, however, the first picture is about setting the stage for movies to come, and it does so with sufficient manner.A all X-Men is definitely one of the better superhero movies out there, and even it was more of a sequel it still stands as a true witness, if ur Singers skill.8/10 |
